Meet our Team

Aspen Veterinary Clinic has been proudly serving the Spring Creek community and their pets since 2007. Our team delivers friendly personal veterinary care to every client-pet family that enters our front doors. We focus on knowing our clients have taken an active role caring for many pet family generations. It is such a great privilege to know we have skills and capabilities to help relieve an animal’s pain and owners distress when the animal doesn’t know it can be helped and the owner has lost hope. There is nowhere else we would rather be.

Dr. Kathryn Moriarty

I am a native Nevadan born and raised in Winnemucca. At Oregon State University I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science in 1997 and continued to receive my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2001. A Postgraduate internship at Wheat Ridge Veterinary Hospital in Denver, Colorado provided intense training my first year as a practitioner. Eventually, I found my way home to Nevada, and my husband Bob and I established Aspen Veterinary Clinic in 2007. As I am writing this, I realized this year will mark my 20th year as a veterinarian. The years have been long challenging and full of great reward. The most significant growth being a veterinarian has been on my life is the relationships I have formed being entrusted with the delicate care of a family’s cherished pets. I used to say I wanted to become a vet so I would not have to deal with people. Wow, what a 180-degree flip that has been, getting to know the families I care for, and looking forward to positively impacting their lives anyway I can. Professionally, I have an interest in dentistry, surgery, dermatology, and internal medicine. To get to know me of duty, I love to bake, cook, garden, serve at church, snowboard, teach math in homeschool (can’t wait to get to calculus), and spend every living movement with my husband and two teenagers.

Welcoming Doctor Barnes, A New Addition to Dr. Moriarty's Team at Aspen Veterinary Clinic

Dr. Matt Barnes

Dr. Barnes is a Nevada native and grew up on his family’s cattle ranch in Jiggs. He attended Utah State University, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal, Dairy, and Veterinary Science and met his amazing wife. He completed his first two years of veterinary school in Logan, then transferred to Washington State for his final two years. Upon graduation he returned home to the ranch. He enjoys working as a mixed animal veterinarian, and as a 6th generation rancher, large animal medicine is his passion. Dr. Barnes is happy to come to your ranch or see your horses and small ruminants at the clinic.
